ARTWORK MOVING / CHANDLER & EAST VALLEY
Artwork Moving in Chandler & the East Valley.
Oversized artwork transport with material, condition, packaging, mounting and route details addressed before the piece is moved.
ARTWORK MOVING
The material changes the protection plan.
A large framed painting, an assembled installation and a fragile mixed-material object have different vulnerabilities. Describe dimensions, materials, projecting parts, existing condition and any artist or conservator instructions. Tell us whether the piece is loose, packed, crated or still mounted.
What this move can include
- Oversized framed artwork
- Prepared freestanding art objects
- Installation components ready for transport
Transport is not conservation or deinstallation.
Artwork can be affected by shock, vibration, handling and environmental exposure. The preparation and packaging should suit the object rather than its price alone. Specialist crating, conservation, removing mounted work and reinstalling it are responsibilities to define separately in the request.
Conservation, appraisal, specialist crating, deinstallation and installation are not automatically included.
THE DETAILS BEHIND THE MOVE
Plan around the actual item and route
Document fragile projections, repaired areas and material sensitivities. Existing crates or artist instructions can be important parts of the accepted transport scope.
Describe loading access, turning room and destination handling. Valuable art should not be represented as ordinary furniture merely because both fit in the same room.
Useful condition information includes repaired surfaces, loose frame elements, vulnerable glazing and materials that react differently to handling. Tell us whether the object has a crate or packing designed for it. A high declared value does not explain how an artwork should be supported; the object’s construction and relevant artist or conservator instructions are more useful for planning.
Clarify release and receiving arrangements if the work is moving between a gallery, studio, business or private property. Describe the full access route and the destination position, and identify whether mounting or specialist installation is required afterward. Crating, conservation, deinstallation and hanging should each have an agreed responsible party rather than being assumed within a general transport quote.
QUESTIONS WORTH ASKING
Before the
moving day.
Do I need to describe the materials?
Yes. Glass, painted surfaces, mixed materials and fragile projections can change preparation and handling.
Can mounted artwork be removed as part of the move?
Discuss it explicitly. Removal and reinstallation are not assumed in a transport request.
Is a photograph enough for a quote?
Photos help, but dimensions, documented weight, condition and route details are also important.
